Data Portability
This page explains how customers retrieve their data from Pearl Education, in what form, and when. Data portability is closely tied to Pearl’s return-and-deletion commitments — see Data Retention and Deletion.
Who Can Export
Export is a customer (School or agency) function. The customer’s administrators request exports. Individual parents and students route requests through their School, which Pearl supports (DPA §2.2).
What Can Be Exported
Customer Content — the data submitted to or created in the Products by or on behalf of the customer and its Authorized Users, including Student Data (MSA §1.3).
Format
Exports are provided in a commonly used, machine-readable format, such as CSV or JSON, delivered as a secure download (MSA §4.6; DPA §8.2).
When (Timing)
- During the Service Period, on the customer’s written request (MSA §4.6).
- For 30 days after termination or expiration, the export remains available (MSA §4.6; DPA §8.2).
- Exports during these windows are provided at no additional charge (DPA §8.2).
- After the export period closes, deletion timelines apply — see Data Retention and Deletion.
Student-Generated Content
At the customer’s request, Pearl will transfer — or provide a mechanism to transfer — student-generated content to a separate student or parent account, consistent with the functionality of the Products (DPA §2.3).
How To Request An Export
Submit export requests through your Pearl account team or administrator contact. For student-data-specific requests, contact privacy@poweredbypearl.com or contact your School.
