Culture and Benefits at Pearl Education

Culture

We pride ourselves on our culture. We have an amazing dynamic between our people, teams, and customers, which has been made possible in part by our values that we live. These include:

  • We respect everyone and treat people fairly and with dignity.
  • We value diversity of people, culture, and opinions.
  • We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or bullying.
  • We enthusiastically help each other any time there is a need.
  • We operate with integrity and are honest with our customers.
  • We admit when we make mistakes, and we celebrate the opportunity to learn and improve.

Uncapped Paid Time Off

Taking vacation and personal days are important to the health and wellbeing of our people. We want you to be at your best while also meeting the expectations of your role and the needs of the business. We do not limit the number of vacation days an employee may take. On average, we see our people take 20 days off per year. Please see our Employee Time Off policy for additional details.

Annual Holidays

In addition to uncapped time off, we also enjoy 11 paid holidays a year, providing time to rest and celebrate important occasions:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Election Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day After Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Sick Time

Unfortunately, we all get sick, and at times we need to care for loved ones who are sick. Pearl provides 10 days a year of sick time, all issued at the start of the year.

Parental Leave

As a family friendly workplace, we know how important it is to bond with your growing family. Pearl offers paid parental leave to support both the primary and supporting parent as they welcome a new child, whether through birth, adoption, or foster care.

  • Primary Parent: 4 weeks paid at 100% with the option to take an additional 4 weeks unpaid
  • Supporting Parent: 4 weeks paid at 100%

More details can be found in our Employee Time Off policy.

Short Term Disability

Life happens, and we want you to feel supported. Pearl offers short-term disability through SunLife at no cost to you. In the event that you become disabled due to a non-work-related injury or illness, short-term disability provides a partial replacement of income for up to twelve weeks. More information can be found in our Employee Time Off policy.

401(k) Retirement Savings

Saving for retirement is easy through Pearl’s 401k program. When you start with Pearl you’ll get an invitation to set up an account with Guideline, our 401k provider. You are immediately eligible to begin contributions to your 401k account through payroll deduction. You can change your contribution at any time (even paycheck-to-paycheck). At this time Pearl does not provide an employer match.

Discounted Shipping Rates

Employees are eligible for an account with our shipping carrier, which they can use for personal shipments and taking advantage of substantial savings (~40%) over typical shipping costs.

Points, Miles, and Rewards

While Pearl provides a corporate charge card when needed, employees may elect to use their personal credit cards and rewards programs for reimbursable expenses, and those points, miles, and rewards are theirs to keep for personal use.
